Ten years ago, ShareASale took over Howl at the Moon in Orlando during Affiliate Summit East 2006.   <— Caution, link may cause feelings of nostalgia.

For years, I've heard everyone talk about how much fun they had back then and it tormented me for not being able to make it. (I don't know what I got stuck doing while this was going on because there's no way that I'd ever miss any party that was a sing-a-long!)

So, I couldn't have been more excited when I heard that ShareASale was bringin' back the sing-a-long fun for their latest variation of their famous “Under the Stars” party taking place during Affiliate Summit East 2016 with!

Here are the deets:

ShareASale Party at Howl at the Moon NYCHowl At The Moon
245 W. 52nd Street
Sunday, July 31, 2016
Time: 8pm-11pm

If you've never been to a Howl At The Moon, be prepared for a high-energy, super-fun time as the performers are freakishly talented! Plus, you'll be partying with a bunch of other like-minded people who won't pass judgment when you sing at the top of your lungs, and dance like no one is watching. Check out some of the performances here.

Giant love to the ShareASale gang for putting this on.  And don't worry, I will not be requesting “‘Cause Everything Old Is New Again.” I'll save that for another night  😎

Brian Littleton, Founder and CEO of ShareASale, gave a keynote address at Affiliate Summit East 2015, which took place August 2-4, 2015 at the New York Marriott Marquis in New York, NY.

I've known Brian for over a decade and was thrilled when he agreed to speak, knowing the value of the insights he'd impart to the attendees.

Brian Littleton, CEO of ShareASale's Keynote at #ASE15 [Review & Video]

A little background on Brian…  he founded ShareASale, a technology company that offers affiliate marketing solutions and services, in 2000. Under Brian's leadership, ShareASale's cutting-edge, customizable tracking solutions and client services offerings coupled with their fair and honest business practices, has enabled thousands of merchants and affiliates to collaborate, creating mutually beneficial partnerships.

Brian has served as the President of the Board of Directors for the Performance Marketing Association since 2012. His passion for affiliate marketing has helped to shape the industry and has earned him the Affiliate Summit Pinnacle award for Affiliate Marketing Advocate of the Year — three times.

During his keynote, Brian discussed four business justifications that he's considered to formulate the business decisions that he's made. I've taken the liberty of paraphrasing them below:

  • The importance of considering the immediate and long-term impact of every business decision and remaining consistent once those determinations are made.
  • The advantages of solving customer complaints, whether you're to blame or not.
  • The significance of loving your brand and what you do every day. For customers to love your brand, you have to love it first.
  • The extraordinary value of surrounding yourself with the very best.

Brian also shared ten things that he believes every business owner should be doing and encouraged the audience to not wait to do them.

His keynote was filled with interactive polls, humour and photos of his “eagles” (you'll have to watch the video to understand).

At the end of his address, the audience responded with a well-deserved standing ovation.

After having the opportunity to re-watch his keynote in its entirety without distractions, I can wholeheartedly recommend that any business owner of any company spend the time to view it.  It is not limited to those business owners that are in the digital marketing arena.

How to choose the right affiliate programSelecting the ideal affiliate program is about more than just choosing the easiest one that offers the products you think would be a fit for your blog. There are many factors you need to consider, including commission, ethics, tracking, and more.

There is an ocean of affiliate programs out there, so you need to be careful about choosing the programs you work with.

So how do you get started? Let’s start by taking a moment here to clarify the different places where you can find affiliate program offerings.

Major Affiliate Networks

These networks typically offer the affiliate programs for the big brands; the ones that are household names. They also offer tools you’ll need, such as the following:

  • Banners
  • Text links
  • Widgets
  • Videos
  • Coupons
  • Datafeeds

I tend to stick with affiliate programs that are run on the major affiliate networks as they have a track record of making reliable payments and management that knows what they’re doing.

ShareASale.com, eBayEnterprise.com, AvantLink.com, CJ Affiliate and Linkshare.com are examples of major affiliate networks. [click to continue…]
