Look Who’s Walking With Me During My 39-Mile Avon…

It's a little over 2 weeks before me and the rest of my team representing “Affiliate Marketers Give Back” head out to Chicago to take on the 39-Mile Avon Walk for Breast Cancer on June 5-6.

As of today, we have raised over $56,000. We have passed our $50,000 goal that we sent for ourselves and we have already beat last year's total which was $53,000. I am so proud of my team and honored to be walking with each and every one of them. In addition to my fabulous teammates, I wanted to share with you some information about the other folks who I will be spending two amazing days with during the walk.

Here are some statistics about our 2010 Chicago Walkers:

We come to Chicago from 45 states, St. Croix, USVI, and Denmark.

We range in age from 16 to 75. The majority of us were born in the 1970s (32 percent).

There are 261 male Walkers – 71 more than in last year’s Chicago Walk.

More than 28 percent of us walked in the Avon Walk in 2009!

During the Walk Weekend, 18 walkers will celebrate a birthday! There are 7 Walkers who were born on June 5 and 11 Walkers who were born on June 6.

Jennifer is the most popular name on the Walk this year; we have 92 Jennifer’s participating! Lisa, Mary, and Karen are close behind, though! Johnson is the most common last name.

We have 398 teams, and the largest team has more than 56 participants!

The top fundraising team has raised over $85,000! (Affiliate Marketers Give Back is in 5th place right now, but we're scrambling!

Our top fundraiser in Chicago has raised over 26,000! (I am in the #2 position at $18,000+ and shooting for that #1 position. I've gotta watch out for Suze Orman, a late entry and catching up very quickly!)

And… We have more than 250 breast cancer survivors participating alongside thousands of walkers, walking 39.3 over the weekend because we are In It To End It in 2010!

Affiliate Marketers Give Back 2010 Charity Auction Begins!

In two weeks, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back will hit the streets of Chicago to walk 39+ miles during the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

We've raised over $52,000 so far and we're still going!

The call for donations for our charity auction generated some great items donated by fantastic individuals and companies. You'll find the list of items below.

All proceeds will benefit the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.

How to place a bid:

The auction will run until 3:00pm EST on Tuesday, May 25th.

To bid on the item, simply enter your name, company name and amount you would like to bid. The winner will be the highest bid entered before the auction deadline. (Please make sure that you use your correct email address when prompted, so that we may contact you if you are the winner).

Dealing with an Advertiser’s Landing Page Changes – By…

Affiliate marketing is an industry that keeps changing. It is imperative that you keep on top of what is going on as it can greatly impact your business.

One such change that happens often on the CPA side of the industry is the constant modifications to advertiser’s landing pages. These types of alterations can damage your business, especially after the affiliate properly targeted and optimized their jump page variables to make the offer convert.

The worst part is that in all probability, the affiliate will never get notified by the advertiser or the affiliate network that they are working with. It is very likely that the affiliate will find out simply by noticing a drop in conversions. Unfortunately, by that point, it comes with a loss of income.

Luckily there are some sites out there that will help you be proactive with a problem such as this.

InternetOwl.com is a desktop application. You simply tell it which Web page to watch and it will check for changes periodically. If it detects a change either by HTML or text, Internet Owl will send you an email when the page changes.

The best part about this desktop application is when Internet Owl finds some changes, it can display the changes for you to see.

ChangeDetection.com is a Web-based service which also detects changes and sends you a notification via email. Change Detection creates a log for the page or in this case, the affiliate offer. When it detects a change, it notifies you.

Change Detection currently only monitors text changes and not HTML changes. For example, if an image has changed, you are not notified of the image change – only the change in the body of the text.

While these services have been around for a while, they are definitely being underutilized by affiliates.

Keeping on top of your offers and campaigns can be the best thing you can do if the network or advertiser does not detect it first.
