What a wonderful world….
Alex (my 7-year old) was in his first grade play this morning. He's the one dressed in a red t-shirt with green shorts (… I had nothing to do with that outfit!). I am very proud of him as he rehearsed his signs for weeks to make sure that he'd get it right for today. He brought a tear to my eye when I watched him perform, along with his classmates.
You know, it wasn't so long ago that I used to believe that not taking vacations or days off entitled me to some sort of badge of honor when it came to my work ethic. I thought that working late and having to miss school trips or hockey practice just went along with getting ahead.
Now I realize that people that miss out on incredible moments (like first grade plays) because it “interferes” with their work schedule, simply deserve a badge for being nuts. As my mother always says — life is not a dress rehearsal. It's moments like these that you never get to re-live again.
Enjoy the day!
