Win a 1-Year Membership to theBizWebCoach.com Group Coaching Program

by Missy Ward

Jim Kukral, has one of the most creative and business-savvy minds around. His marketing knowledge never ceases to amaze me and I am continuously inspired by him.

For the last 12+ years, Jim's been busy teaching both small companies and businesses like Ernst & Young, Fedex, Sherwin Williams and more, how to maximize their online success and increase their profits.

Now, through TheBizWebCoach.com, he is providing access to a group coaching program in which his members can learn how to successfully use social media, create an online strategy to drive more leads and sales and get specific business-building action items to build their business.

What business owner wouldn't want that?

Being the “Pay-it-Forward-Kinda-Girl” that I am, I asked Jim if he would provide me with a few seats in his group coaching program to give away to some lucky readers of MissyWard.com. To my delight, Jim has provided me with 10 free year-long individual memberships (a $324 value each) to give away to business owners that want to be motivated and educated about the things they need to do to make their online business thrive. Details of the group coaching program can be found here.

So, for the next two weeks, I will give away 5 memberships each week. Here's what you have to do to be eligible to win one:

1) You have to be prepared to LEARN. If you're only semi-interested, don't enter the contest. Let someone else who really wants a seat have a better chance of getting it.

2) Follow me on Twitter @MissyWard and Tweet: “I want to learn how to grow my online business. Do you? Follow @MissyWard and retweet http://cli.gs/PickMe

-OR-

Make a comment on this post and give me a reason to give you one of the memberships.

On Monday, February 9th, I will randomly select 3 winners from the eligible entries from Twitter and 2 from my blog. The same goes on February 16th.

Good luck!

Save the Dates: Linkshare Symposium East in NYC –…

by Missy Ward

I'm so excited. I just received notice that the annual LinkShare Symposium East is going to be taking place on Tuesday, June 23 in New York City.

And my favorite awards dinner – the annual Linkshare Golden Links Award dinner is the night before – Monday, June 22.

This is one of my must-attends, every year. Linkshare always puts on a very classy event packed with hundreds of top-notch affiliates, high-quality speakers and awesome networking opportunities.

Here are my pictures from last year's event:

And here's my coverage on the event (blog post or view pages 56-57 in FeedFront Magazine Issue 2)

Looks like Shawn Collins, my business partner, is going too!

Keep an eye on the LinkShare blog for more details.

Thesis 1.4 Theme for WordPress is Live

by Missy Ward

Update: 1/31/09 — *Upgraded to Thesis 1.4 today. It took 1/2 an hour which included updating all my plugins. I'll be tasting all the new yummy goodies included with this release over the next week. I'll save those comments for another post.

Around 5:15am EST this morning, while I was working (yes, I'm battling with insomnia again), Chris Pearson's tweet below hit my Twhirl and I couldn't wait to find out more.

Thesis 1.4 for WordPress Launches

I have MissyWard.com and GeekCast.fm running on Thesis v1.3 now and I adore it. It's super-flexible, easy to customize and SEO-optimized.

I'd read about the highly-anticipated upgrade about to happen, but, I really didn't think I needed anything else. 😉

Well, from the looks of it, Thesis v1.4 does not disappoint. Here's a list of some of the new features:

A new multiple-instance sidebar widget that allows you to display posts from any category.

All-new post editing options that replace the need to use cumbersome custom fields. Also, inline documentation and tips make these new options intuitive and easy to use.

Post images and thumbnails, two new image-based features that add an unbelievable amount of visual flexibility to your site.

Reorganized and improved options pages that are more usable, more information-rich, and more intuitive than ever before.

A feature box, which is a hookable element that you can position in various places around your layout.

A fantastic new home page layout called Features & Teasers. Features are displayed just like normal blog posts, but teasers are a completely new and customizable way to display your posts.

and more.

I'll be setting some time aside this week to upgrade — likely somewhere between 4am and 5am until I crack the nut on this insomnia 😉

Congratulations Chris, on the new baby girl. She's beautiful.

On a side note, Thesis also offers an affiliate program here. I am a new affiliate of the program. The money that I earn from the sales of this program is being donated directly to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
