May I Have Your Support on Memorial Day?
Memorial Day is not just the unofficial start of summer. It is a day set aside to pay respect to the service men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our nation.
We remember and honor all who have served, memorialize those who have been lost and say a prayer for all those currently protecting our nation. [Special shout-outs to my buds, Matthew, Dean and Freddie who are currently serving – you guys are my heroes!]
As I prepare for next weekend’s Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago, Memorial Day also evokes thoughts of a fragile army fighting for their lives on a different front line. They fight to survive while trying to manage the rest of their daily lives – working and doing the best they can to take care of their families. Their wounds are not from bullets, but from chemicals, radiation and surgeries.
Nearly 40,000 moms, daughters, sisters, wives, companions and friends die on this battle ground every year and nearly 300,000 new people will face the enemy.
I’ve witnessed too much suffering and lost too many friends from this wicked adversary.
And, in as much as I pray for a day where our sons and daughters never need to go off to war, I also can imagine life without breast cancer – a day where all women won’t have to worry if she will be the one in eight women diagnosed with this horrible disease.
That is why I am doing it again — For the 7th year in a row, I’ll be leading the AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com team for our 40 mile walk in the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, taking place in Chicago on June 1st and 2nd.
As a team, we’ve raised over $500,000.00 for various charities that support breast cancer awareness, treatment and research during the last seven years. For this walk alone, we’ve raised over $50,000.00 and we’re not stopping!
I’m most excited about this year's walk as my son Alex, has been chosen to be part of the volunteer Avon Walk Youth Crew during our walk. He will be getting up at 4:00am each day to fill up water bottles, stock and clean up rest stations and cheer on all of the Avon Walkers for 40 miles and provide some entertainment during the evenings while they’re all camping out in Wellness Village. Here's some video footage of the Avon Youth Crew:
I’m incredibly proud of my son for supporting my efforts to fight Breast Cancer throughout the years and for taking it upon himself to apply for the Avon Walk Youth Crew program. In addition, as part of the program, he was required to raise $500.00 and I’m excited to share that he has already raised over $2,000.00. {Go Alex, Go Alex!}
This year, I set a personal fundraising goal of $45,000.00. That amount will provide more than 200 uninsured women with access to life-saving tests, such as mammograms and bone scans to check for breast cancer or to see if it has spread or access to chemotherapy treatments.
I have already raised over $42,000 towards my goal and I (and the rest of those 200 women) could really use your support to help me reach my goal.
Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to either my son Alex’s or my Avon Walk for Fundraising accounts in any denomination you are able to by using the links below:

Then please follow us along on our journey as we take on Chicago next week on http://www.affiliatemarketersgiveback.com.
May the list of fighters in all armies be much shorter by next Memorial Day.
Shine on!
