4 Tips for Finding Work-Life Balance

  • by Missy Ward

In today's busy world that's filled with smartphones and distractions, it can be tough to take a true break from work. It can be even more chaotic when you're a busy mom. You're caring for other people in addition to meeting your own needs.

Work-Life Balance Tips

But with the right tools and attitude, it's possible to strike a healthy work-life balance that allows you to live a better life. Here are some tips on how to do it:

Time Management

Make the most of your time by making a list of your top priorities, and then create a schedule with time allotted for everything. Maybe you have one day per week where you don't take any meetings so you can get more done at the office. Or you could book one exercise class before you head home from work to help clear your head after a long day.

Cut back on multitasking. Instead of trying to finish four things at once, try just knocking out one at a time. Maybe this means you devote one hour each morning to checking email. Make a rule to not check email after you've left your desk. Decide what boundaries you want to draw and enforce them. Your work and home life will be better for it.

Make Time For Yourself

If you're always worrying about others, it's easy to let your own priorities fall by the wayside. If this has been happening, and you'd like to make it better, consider scheduling time for yourself into your day. Read more “4 Tips for Finding Work-Life Balance “ →

4 Lessons The Walking Dead Can Teach Affiliate Marketers

  • by Missy Ward

I am a DEADicated fan of the apocalyptic and post-apocalyptic genres. Something about societies in the midst of crumbling or seeing how people change after a cataclysmic event is relaxing to me.

Don’t judge.

The “undead” sub-genre, especially zombie-related, has been my favorite since I first watched Dawn of the Dead back in the late ‘70’s.

Since 2010, my Sunday nights have been spent watching The Walking Dead, when new episodes are airing.

Recently, I noticed that TWD not only teaches us the many ways to take out a Walker, it also provides some important, non-zombified lessons for affiliate marketers.

Walking Dead Lesson #1: Quitters Make Great Zombie Chum

In the very first episode, Deputy Sheriff Rick Grimes emerges from a coma into a world overrun by Walkers that think human flesh is pretty darn tasty. Did Rick use his service revolver to end his life, rather than living in a zombie-infested world? Of course not.

Instead, he heads off in a police cruiser, then steals a horse and narrowly escapes a horde of Walkers all to find his family, who may or may not be at a refugee camp in Atlanta.

Where and How Brands Can Reach Millennials

  • by Missy Ward

During the first quarter of 2015, millennials overtook Generation X to become the largest generation in the U.S. workforce with over 53 million workers, according to PewResearch Center. This should perk the ears of any company who is attempting to capture and keep a healthy market share of this generation. Brands need to understand how to reach millennials to capitalize on their purchasing power.

Who Are They?

Where-and-How-Brands-Can-Reach-Millennials--300x200[1]

Millennials, also known as the “boomerang generation” because 3 out of 10 have returned to live with their parents after being on their own, according to PewResearch Center, were born between 1982 and 2000. They are the least overtly religious generation, the most racially diverse and the most educated. This generation is closer to their parents and values their input more than generations in the past.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation estimates that millennials have $200 billion of direct purchasing power and $500 billion of indirect spending, which accounts for their influence on their baby boomer parents. Even though they are a decade away from reaching their peak spending power, their influence can’t be discounted. To reach this tech-savvy generation, brands need to engage them online, personalize experiences and products, and keep their engagement authentic.
