  • by Missy Ward

The July 2011 Affiliate Summit meetups are coming up quickly, and we’ve got a new Affiliate Summit Ambassador, Mary Poiley, coordinating the meetups.

Heather Smith and Mary PoileyYou might have met my friend Mary at Affiliate Summit West 2011 – here she is with Heather Smith during the charity auction back then.

These meetups are a combination of learning and networking with support from Affiliate Summit for the monthly agenda and overall organization of the groups.

Visit affiliatesummit.com/meetups to find out about the upcoming Affiliate Summit meetup groups.

If you have any questions or would like to start a meetup in your city, please contact Affiliate Summit Ambassador Mary Poiley.

Missy Ward of Affiliate Summit Exposed on Adotas.com

I had the opportunity to sit down with Gavin Dunaway, Senior Editor of Adotas.com to talk about the upcoming Affiliate Summit East 2011 in August and our plans for the conference series overall.

Lots of fun stuff was discussed, including a venue switch to a far-off destination (#ASOuterSpace20); what my favorite Affiliate Summit location is and the proper wine to drink when listening to my favorite band, AC/DC.

Race to Affiliate Summit has raised $2,273 for the…

  • by Missy Ward

The Race to Affiliate Summit East 2011, a dailymile challenge where Affiliate Summit will donate $1 to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade for each mile run or walked (up to $5,000) through the challenge, is running through 07/31/2011.

There are currently 46 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten runners have already tallied 1,425 miles.

Overall, there have been 2,273 miles run by all of the participants, so it’s $2,273 raised so far.

Shawn Collins is at #5 right now (see my dailymile profile) with 141 miles – catch him if you can.

Here are the top ten runners, as of July 17, 2011.

dailymile syncs with Garmin (205, 305, 310xt, 405, 405cx), Nike+ device and iPhone app, as well as a number of iPhone and Android clients.

You can also manually enter your running and walking efforts.

In order to participate in dailymile activities, you will need to friend Shawn on dailymile and he will invite you to the challenge. The challenge is going through 07/31/2011.

Get more details at http://www.affiliatesummit.com/2011/05/23/race-to-affiliate-summit-east-2011/.

Affiliate Summit East 2011 is taking place August 21-23, 2011 in New York City.

The participant with the most total miles at the end of the challenge will receive a Platinum pass to the conference.

Please note that all information you provide as part of the contest is public and may be used by Affiliate Summit in our marketing efforts for this event.

AskMissyWard.com: Facebook Page Special Offers

  • by Missy Ward

Today's AskMissyWard.com question comes from Anna at VSO Software:

“When I clicked on “like” on your Missy Ward Facebook Page, I landed on a page with the link to a special offer. That's awsome. How do you do this ? I have a welcome tab, but how do I make people land on another page with my discount when they click on “like” ?”

I am using the paid version of a Facebook App called Tradable Bits which allows you to create a customized Facebook Page quickly and easily. You can upload images, embed Twitter and video content using their simple tools. Their templates have allowed me to easily create a Welcome Tab, an “Exclusive” Tab and other html-based Tabs within my Facebook page in minutes. You can then select whatever Tab you decide to be your default tab that you want visitors to see.

They offer an ad-supported free version, but I opted to go with the ad-free small-business version which allows me to use the App on up to 3 of my pages.

Here's a quick video showing how easy it is to use:

Let me know how it works out for you.
