Call for Item Donations for the 2012 Team AMGB…

  • by Missy Ward

We are pleased to announce that we are holding the Affiliate Marketers Give Back Silent Auction again, starting the week of July 8th, 2012 on AffiliateMarketersGiveBack.com.

As of today, we have have raised more than half of our team goal of $80,000 for this year’s Affiliate Marketers Give Back, Avon Walk for Breast Cancer, and are working really hard to raise the other half!

As such, we are asking individuals and companies to please help by considering a donation of an item or service for the silent auction.

Donated items will be listed on the website along with information on the donor and a link back to their website. Winners will be announced after the auction ends and will also receive a link back to their website.

How You Can Donate an Item

Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back has never missed hitting the team goal, and we don’t want to start now. So please help us out by donating an item to the silent auction. It’s a great way to get your name and services out in front of the masses and a great way to help raise money to fight breast cancer.

Please use this form to donate your item. Donations will be accepted through Saturday, June 30th, 2012.

Join the Affiliate Summit Team for the Runyon 5K

  • by Shawn_Collins

Affiliate Summit is sponsoring a team of runners for the Runyon 5k, which is taking place Sunday, August 12 at Yankee Stadium. This is the first day of Affiliate Summit East 2012.

2009 Runyon 5k

I ran the Runyon 5k a few years ago, and it was a fantastic experience.

The Runyon 5k is a unique cancer research fundraising run/walk that uses Yankee Stadium as its course. You can run or walk the concourses and ramps, climb stairs between levels, and take your own victory laps around the warning track that circles the field.

Affiliate Summit will cover the $40 registration fee for anybody who joins the Affiliate Summit team. Runners are responsible for their minimum of $60 in fundraising.

We’ll also get shirts for anybody running on the Affiliate Summit team (I wish I could, but there’s too much with Affiliate Summit that morning for me).

After the Runyon 5k in 2009

100% of all donations raised in support of your run/walk will go to innovative cancer research by today’s best young scientists, funded by the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.

If you’d like to participate, please join our team for the Runyon 5k and then email your confirmation to us, and we will reimburse you.

Let us know how to make out the check, where to send it, your phone numbers, and your shirt size.

New Online Marketing Forum Just For Women

  • by Missy Ward

A few months back, I attended an all-women entrepreneurs’ conference. It was touted as a way to get your business off the ground by providing sessions on business and marketing strategies from women who were already successful.

I walked out of the event with mixed emotions.

First, I felt horrible that all these women just spent their hard-earned money to go to this conference to learn basic marketing tactics they could have found out on their own for free, by spending some time online. What aggravated me further, was that these women were subsequently being up-sold into “coaching” programs starting at several thousand dollars.

I guess what made me most upset was that the women that attended the show, were being taken advantage of by other women. (There's a special place in Hell for women that do this to other women, in my opinion).

Now, it’s not to say that no one received value while they were there. I’m sure that for some, it was a great entry point and a way to meet other like-minded people that they could potentially work with in the future.

For me, the value I received was the kick in the ass that I needed to make sure that I do my part to ensure that every woman involved in online marketing, no matter what stage in their journey, has the opportunity to receive the networking, resources and education they need so that they may create a better life for themselves, their families and their communities — without spending a small fortune to do it!

Like many other women, when I first started in online marketing in the late 90’s, there were very few gals around to network with and learn from. Fast forward almost 15 years later and the landscape has changed dramatically; but, there’s still a long way to go for us. Women online marketers need other role models they can look up to and learn from.

And that’s what I hope to achieve by starting JoinWOMU.com (Women Online Marketers United) – a forum which provides opportunities for networking and peer-to-peer education to women online marketers for free.

Let’s face it; none of us knows everything there is to know about online marketing. But together, with other women in the same field, we have the opportunity to learn from each and enrich all of our lives.

I know first hand, that nothing feels better than paying it forward, especially to other women. And, you never know who you might meet in the forum.

It’s my sincere hope that JoinWOMU.com is to able to help some of the fantastic women online marketers that I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know over the years and the ones I look forward to meeting.

I hope to see you over on the forum or on our JoinWOMU Facebook App.
