Affiliate Marketers Share Their Recipes for Cookies & Success

  • by Missy Ward

“It's All About the Cookies… and brownies and pies and cakes….”

An Affiliate Cookbook!

Since the 90’s, affiliate marketers have had a love affair with cookies – not the chocolate chip, or oatmeal variety – but the pieces of code that ultimately tracks affiliates’ sales and commissions earned.

These affiliate marketers are a diverse group. Some work part-time and earn enough to subsidize their income while others have created extremely lucrative businesses.

Ultimately, success is defined by the affiliates themselves.

To that end, I've asked affiliate marketers from around the globe to share their recipe for success and favorite cookie (or other yummy dessert).

The result is a business book filled with
mouth-watering recipes and thought-provoking insights learned on their road to success – an interesting read and a wonderful addition to your own kitchen.

Get Featured in It's All About the Cookies…

As of today, I found out that I still have more room to include additional recipes before we go to print.  So, if you're an affiliate marketer, please consider submitting your recipe here: http://allaboutthecookies.com/submit-your-recipe/

A Big Round of Applause!

A tremendous amount of thanks goes out to all of the affiliate marketers and advertisers who have contributed to the success of this book.

I'd like to also thank Jen Goode, Doodler in Charge of JGoodeDesigns.com Mary Poiley, founder of InternetCareerHunt.com; and Jen Goode, and Neil duPaul, my fantastic assistant who helped make this project a reaility.

Supporting “Affiliate Marketers Give Back” Efforts

“It’s All About the Cookies” is being produced to help Affiliate Marketers Give Back (“AMGB”) efforts to raise money to support breast cancer research, treatment, awareness and community programs.

100% of the net profits will be donated to Team AMGB's 2011 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.  Since 2007, with the help of countless affiliate marketers, AMGB has helped raise over $245,000.00 to help #SaveTheBoobies through various fundraising efforts including 40 and 60-mile walks, silent auctions, not-so-silent auctions, corporate sponsorships and lots of (sometimes) goofy promotions.

This book is no exception.

  • by Missy Ward

The Affiliate Summit East 2010 Challenge, a Nike+ Challenge where Affiliate Summit pledged to donate $1 to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade for each mile run (up to $5,000) through the challenge has hit the goal.

Affiliate Summit has made our $5,000 donation to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade.

But the challenge is still running through August 13, 2010 for any runners interested in affiliate marketing bragging rights.

There are currently 75 folks involved in the challenge, and the top ten runners have tallied 2,280.10 miles so far.

Overall, there have been 5,437.83 miles run by all of the participants.

Shawn is at #15 right now (see his Nike+ profile) with 151.63 miles, and is hoping to hit the top ten by Affiliate Summit East 2010. I'm in 41st place — not too shabby considering I was down and out with pneumonia.

Here are the top ten runners, as of July 1, 2010.

Affiliate Summit Nike+ Challenge - July 1, 2010

Missy Ward Gets “Approved” by Suze Orman

  • by Missy Ward

There was a fundraising contest going on during the 2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer in Chicago in which for every $250 that a walker raised between May 1 – May 10, they received a chance to win a 20-minute “Ask Suze” phone conversation with financial expert, Suze Orman. Additionally, the Top 5 fundraisers of that walk would appear in a short video with Suze that would be filmed during the Closing Ceremonies.

Patrick Dempsey and Missy WardAfter winning last year's fundraising contest and having a blast meeting Patrick Dempsey, I knew there was no way I was going to pass up the exciting opportunity to meet Suze.

So, being the extremely competitive, and thick-headed gal that I am, I hustled my butt off and won both contests, coming in just 2-spots away from Suze and our Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back coming in 5th overall.

During Day One of the walk, my fellow teammates were subjected to my excitement of meeting her for 26 miles. I'm fairly certain they wanted me to meet her as much as I wanted to so that I'd finally shut up. 😉

Unfortunately, around mile 7 of Day Two's walk, I got a phone call alerting me to the fact that Suze was in the hospital and was undergoing an emergency appendectomy.

I have to admit, I was kind of disheartened that I wasn't going to get to meet her, even though it was a pretty damn good excuse.

But being the class-act that she is, Suze Orman recorded a special message for me which immediately brought a smile to my face.

I'm glad to see that she's feeling better from her surgery and I'm truly looking forward to my phone call with her.

Recap of the Affiliate Marketers Give Back, 2010 Avon…

  • by Missy Ward

On June 5-6, Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back set out on our 4th annual walk to fight breast cancer.  This time, we took on the streets of Chicago for the 2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer.Team Affiliate Marketers Give Back at Gino's East

Our team gathered on event eve at Gino's East of Chicago for a pre-walk team dinner consisting of lots of carbs (pizza and beer).  Most of us got to bed early as we had to be up in time to make the 5:00am bus to the Opening Ceremony which was held at Soldier Field.  It was an emotional event which gave us the motivation we needed to get walking as soon as they let us out the gates at 7:00am.

Day One's walk took us from Soldier Field through the beautiful neighborhoods of Chicago, many of which I've never seen before.  26.2 miles later, we crossed our first finish line at Warren Park — the site of the temporary Avon Wellness Village, where many of the walkers camp overnight.

Some of us went back to the hotel while others decided to walk (hobble) a little bit further to a local Mexican restaurant to celebrate with Tacos y Cerveza.

Day two's 13.1 mile walk came way too early for some of us.  Standing in line at 5:45am feeling sore and covered with blisters, I had to question my sanity for a moment.  But after seeing a few of the folks that were walking that were currently going through chemo standing on line with me, I had a much better perspective on what I was about to set out to do.

The route was extraordinary today.  The views along the water were stunning while the walk through the Cancer Survivor's Garden was met with mixed emotions of hope and sadness.

After a quick pit-stop at the Chicago Blackhawk's Store to pick up some shirts to support the team later that night, we were back on the road to Soldier Field where I crossed the finish line with Melissa Salas of Buy.com.

After months of fudraising, 39.3 miles walked, dozens of team blisters and aching muscles, I am proud to say that Affiliate Marketers Give Back raised our highest team amount to date:  $73,058.81.   Our team was the 5th largest fundraising team and I was the 3rd largest fundraiser overall.

I'd like to thank all of the people on my team, all of the folks that supported us with donations and words of encouragement along the way and the rest of the walkers that took on Chicago with us.

In total, the Avon Walk for Breast Cancer Chicago raised over $7.7 Million, most of which was distributed immediately at the Closing Ceremony to breast cancer organizations throughout the Chicago area to support the remarkable work they do in the fight against breast cancer; work that will someday rid the world of this disease.

We all have so much to be proud of as we showed the world what the power of a united community can do.

Click here for my pictures or here for Karen Garcia's pictures of the event.  (I will add more from the team as they get uploaded).

Shine on!

PS – Brian Chase, Melissa Chase, Kevin and Rhianna De Vincenzi, Sara D'Onofrio, Jenny Frederick, Karen Garcia, Jenna Jasso, Brian Littleton, Chris Pearson, Jaz Pester, Scott Richter, Amy Rodriguez, Melissa Salas, Brook Schaaf and Kevin Strawbridge:  I am honored that you walked this year and I promise you… walking is like child birth.  In a few days, you'll forget about the pain and I swear you'll want to walk again next year in Denver 😉
