How You Can Contribute to FeedFront Magazine

  • by Missy Ward

The June issue of Feedfront isn't even out the door and we're already working on the next issue of which will be coming out in August 2009.

This edition will be double-the-size as it will also serve as the conference program for Affiliate Summit East 2009 in New York City.

You can contribute to this issue two ways:

1) If you are interested in writing an article, go to the FeedFront contact form to submit a one-sentence summary on what you’d like to cover. (Articles are a maximum of 500 words – no exceptions. Anything longer will not be considered.) If you're content idea is accepted, you will need to submit your article by the Monday, June 8th.

2) We are doing a feature on affiliate marketer's workspaces and would love to have a photo of your crib in it. If you would like to share your workspace picture for inclusion in the magazine, send your photo to contact (at) feedfront.com with your name and site you’d like us to list. Please send your high-resolution pictures by Friday, June 5th.

We hope you can become a part of the FeedFront community.

My Interviews on Handshake 2.0 and MurrayNewlands.com

  • by Missy Ward

This week, I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Z. Kelly Queijo for Handshake 2.0 and Murray Newlands for his blog, MurrayNewlands.com, regarding my take on the state of the Affiliate Marketing Industry and new trends on the horizon.

I also gave some tips to affiliates just starting out and some advice to merchants with respect to certain things they do, that I just don't like.

Today's topics that were spewed were:

  • Our thoughts on the FTC forcing Bloggers to disclose when they are being paid for their posts and why it makes us want to vomit.
  • Why we think affiliates don't need to disclose their affiliate links on Twitter, blogs, Facebook, etc, no matter what the purists think.
  • Why its important to research the products and services that you're marketing (which was included in a recent video presentation that I just put out.)
  • Our favorite WordPress plug-ins for online marketers. (Thanks to Kim for putting the list together here.)
  •

We also got the nitty-gritty on Chris when it comes to:

  • How and why he made the leap from engineering to building WordPress themes.
  • How his first theme “Cutline” was the springboard to Thesis and what makes it unique.
  • Things that are exciting him in the world of online marketing.
  • The reason he did the “How to Become a Celebrity” video
  • Tips on simple things to do to optimize blogs that are often overlooked.
  • Suggestions on getting started in blogging and how to go about monetizing a blog.
  • His personal life and his guilty pleasures.
  • What two women he'd love to do lunch with
  • The worst business advice he was ever given
  • What he really wants to do with his life

Seven Common Pitfalls New Affiliates Should Avoid

    • by Missy Ward

If you're new to affiliate marketing, you're probably already up to your ears in “new stuff” that you need to learn, which can be somewhat overwhelming.

On top of everything else, you also need to get your arms around things that you really should avoid, so that your efforts aren't for naught.

I put together this video to help out with that. These are some affiliate pitfalls that I wish someone would have shared with me when I first started out. It would have saved me a lot of time, frustration and money.

It's part of a series that my business partner Shawn and I are developing to assist new affiliate marketers with their business. Here is the first one that Shawn created, entitled “Making Money Online With Affiliate Programs.”

It's our sincere hope that you find a golden nugget in these videos that will make your life a little easier.

If you've been in the business for a while and would like to offer up some other tips, please feel free to post a comment below. It's good karma 😉
